10:17 pm - Origami Snowflake appearing in front of Arthur Weasley and Nymphadora Tonks
The note appears blank to anyone but Arthur or Tonks

His magical signature is present at the scene of the attack, and it looks like he ran towards the river afterwards. I'm going to follow up with the Apothecary shops we contacted yesterday, starting with those nearest to his last known position. He has to have run out of potion by now. I, unfortunately, have run out of vodka to bribe the shopkeepers with, but I'll manage without. If we ask Tonks to bill any more alcohol to the Ministry they'll toss her in a detoxification program as soon as she returns.

9:03 am - Owl Post: Minerva McGonagall
Minerva,

How lovely to hear from you! There's no need to apologise at all; we didn't expect that you would be up for entertaining visitors for a while yet. Arthur and I would love to catch up with you sometime this week, if you'd like. Name your date.

As for Ron, I've told him in no uncertain terms that he owes you an apology, at the very least. I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know when he does come by. He played a pivotal role in bringing the war to a close, but your concerns are far from the first that we've had regarding him since the fighting ended. He had promised to speak to someone, though obviously something more is needed. Of all my children, he's the most difficult to approach, and obviously I can't scoop him up and take him to Mungo's as I would have when he was a child. Any advice you have on how this might be handled would be greatly appreciated. If he's threatening you, something is seriously amiss.

Do let us know which evening you'd like me and Arthur to come by. It will be so good to see you again!

Molly

7:01 am - HOWLER: RON WEASLEY
RONALD WEASLEY! I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU! THREATENING MINERVA MCGONAGALL WHEN SHE'S JUST BARELY GOTTEN BACK UP ON HER FEET!! IF THE HOGWARTS STAFF, THE MINISTRY, THE ORDER, SIRIUS BLACK AND YOUR OWN PARENTS ACCEPT THAT SHE DIDN'T DIE THAT DAY, THEN THAT HAD BETTER BE GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU! I NEVER THOUGHT I'D SEE THE DAY WHEN A BASTION OF OUR WORLD DID NOT FEEL SAFE AROUND MY SON. WE ARE NO LONGER AT WAR, AND YOU WILL GET YOUR HEAD INTO THE PRESENT DAY AND MARCH DOWN TO HOGWARTS AND APOLOGISE TO HER, DO YOU HEAR ME??

Dear Professor Slughorn,

Arthur and I were hoping you might be able to allay a concern we have regarding Bill. It's a rather uncomfortable matter and we do, of course, trust to your discretion regarding it.

You may have noticed Bill and Luna Lovegood spending a fair amount of time together recently. He's told us that they're now involved, and, to be perfectly honest, we're concerned at how rapidly the relationship appears to have developed. I don't want to think ill of the girl at all, Professor, but it's so unlike Bill to bring someone to Sunday dinner within a month of meeting her. Actually, I think she may be only the second girl he's brought home.

Have you noticed anything unusual about either of them lately? A delivery of potions ingredients that appear out of the ordinary? Odd smells coming from either of their rooms? Anything at all that might indicate this is something more nefarious that a new love?

We're perfectly happy to accept her if it does turn out to be legitimate, of course, but surely you see why we're concerned. We very much appreciate your thoughts.

Sincerely,
Molly Weasley

Really Arthur, you ought to be able to feed yourself if I'm not around. Ginny and I are both here, we'll make sure the kitchen doesn't catch fire again, and you can help us with dinner.

6:45 pm - Heavily Warded Owl Post: Arthur Weasley
To anyone other than Arthur, the letter is charmed to look like a postcard stating "Hello from beautiful Andorra! Wish you were here!"

Dear Arthur,

Ryland showed up today, right on schedule. You're right, dear, he has gotten sloppy. He didn't even bother to check before moving his things in, and only conducted the most rudimentary check for charms after the moving van left. Our surveillance caught him telling the driver to expect another delivery tomorrow. He's currently setting up his wards. We're planning to stay through Wednesday morning to make sure everything is in place, then we'll be back in the office by lunchtime for debriefing. Perhaps you might arrange to take a few hours off in the afternoon?

All my love,
Molly

The tree is up, though the Burrow was not happy about having to raise the parlour ceiling by several feet to accommodate it. A Christmas tree, it seems, is not on the same standing as a family member. Why, when Percy showed up last night and went to put his trunk in his bedroom, it took only 30 seconds of glaring for the spare cupboard to be replaced by his old bedroom. Not that it improved his mood much, poor dear. I thought at first it was simply the travel, but he was scarcely better today. Something isn't right, there, but I'll give him a few days to work through it before I ask.

The decorating of the tree still remains to be done, but the Weasley Christmas is off to a rousing start. Perhaps I'll suggest to Arthur that we skip the pub and darts kick off for next year and just begin with the tree. It wasn't that I didn't enjoy the evening, but both of us calling in sick the next day does make things a bit awkward around the office. I made good use of the time, though, once Arthur had cuddled my headache away. The Weasley sweaters for Lily and Scorpius are done, and I've planned out patterns for Severus and Draco as well. They're family now, and as such deserve their own sweaters. I'm just glad that the rest of the children have stopped growing and are taking good care of theirs so I don't have to make seven per year anymore.

I do hope that a Weasley sweater will be a comfort for Severus as well, the poor dear. Arthur and I visited Lake Cottage briefly last week, and while his language choices are still very much intact, he truly didn't have the slightest idea who we were. Harry says the healers think there's progress, so his memories will come back eventually, but in the meantime a warm sweater never did anyone any harm and it will do him good to know that he has lots of family supporting him in his recovery, even if he doesn't remember who they are.

That went well, don't you think, Arthur? I suspect we'll be made to promise never to do it again, but deep down, I'm sure he appreciated it.

Dear Professor,

That would be wonderful, thank you! Arthur and I will make sure to arrive at Hogwarts a bit before the match starts so as to have time to speak with the elves.

And of course I will be at your Christmas Party! Arthur and I are quite looking forward to it!

Sincerely,
Molly Weasley

Hello Professor,

I do hope this isn't imposing, but I was wondering if I might solicit your help on something small. Bill is quite insistent that we not celebrate his birthday this year. He insists that the Quidditch match is more important, or some such nonsense. So Arthur and I were thinking- why not bring the celebration to him? We're planning on coming up for the match on Saturday with a cake, but obviously that won't be enough for all the students. Would it be possible for the elves to make some fairy cakes? That way everyone would get to join in the celebration and it would be such a nice surprise.

Do let me know your thoughts on logistics and whether this is possible.

Sincerely,
Molly Weasley

I ran across a photograph last night while going through a few of the boxes that the Burrow has seen fit to release of late. It took me a while to remember what this one was from.

When I was six I planted my father's wand. I wanted one of my own, you see, and we had just finished planting new trees the week before. It made sense at the time. It was the next morning before he missed it, and I proudly took him out to see my handiwork when he asked. There was no additional twig for me to play with, much to my disappointment. All I got for my efforts was a stern talking to.

Funny that it should come up again after all those years. I understand now the panic my father must have felt when his wand wasn't in his grasp within minutes of waking that morning. My own little almond wand may as well be an extension of my arm...

Ah, well, no use spending too much time thinking over such inconsequential things. Lunch is over, and there is work to be done!

Fred, dear, perhaps it might be easier to speak to us through these journals? We're getting concerned, dear, you've hardly said a word since the battle. You do know that we're not angry, right? We're quite proud of the role you and George played in the war.

Charlie Weasley, I'm very happy for you and Elle, but if you ever do this without telling me again I will be most put out. Your siblings haven't set the best example, so I'll overlook it, but we must have a celebration of some sort. Name the date, dears.

And Elle, I have a lovely knitted blanket that I made back when I thought Bill would be, well, taking the plunge himself. Now that one of my children had finally done the job properly, I do hope you'll accept the gift. It's a lovely cabled design with some repeating Celtic knots done up with cream and blue in a lovely soft wool.

I must say, it's been a while since I was quite so relieved to get to the weekend. I suppose it is the nature of work that one must go to it whether one wants to or not. And so I went, despite the fact that I would much rather have stayed home with Arthur, Bill and Lily. Arthur is weak yet, no matter what he might insist, and Bill has a similar mind when it comes to those things. At least Bill is taking on most of Lily's care while I'm gone, though Arthur is still quite tired when I get home. Still, Pete made it quite clear that I was not to take off any more time, and Arthur doesn't want me missing work due to him.

I'm beginning to suspect that Bill has his own concerns lingering from his mauling, though I've not the slightest idea how to go about getting him to talk about them. Perhaps Arthur could speak to him. I brushed on the subject of werewolves when I got home from work on Monday and he barely met my eye. Though, on reflection, that may have been because he was bending over the chicken at the time.

He's made dinner every night this week. It's so pleasant coming home after a long day and having dinner ready to eat. He's made something different each night, and everything is cooked perfectly! He even picked up most of the little tricks I use to make things come out just right. And his attitude is the most surprising- he doesn't think this is at all out of the ordinary. I hardly know what to think. It's such a contrast from when Ron was living here. But my, I must say, with cooking skills like those, he'll make someone a wonderful husband. Now if only he would settle down...
